Job Description

We are in search of an Inventory Control Manager to join our growing team. The Inventory Manager will manage inventory control activities including supporting a team of Inventory Control Associates. This role oversees inventory control and accuracy for the facility including, but not limited to, maintaining the physical inventory, improving controls, providing ongoing training, recognizing signs of operational problems, and consistently executing the cycle count program to ensure inventory and location accuracy (e.g., outs, aisle audits, empty slot reports, special counts for high-value items, non-stocks). This role also validates the accuracy of products transferred between facilities, research, and resolves discrepancies, monitors adjustments in the warehouse management system, and conducts analysis to forecast potential inventory issues.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Set cycle counts of inventory, research, and clears any discrepancies
  • Plan layouts of the warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored
  • Trace the history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Supervise employees through staff development, assigning duties and examining work to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws; manages labor hours and payroll in an electronic timekeeping system
  • Advise the employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems
  • Recommend process improvements within the warehouse or distribution center which will improve the accuracy of inventory and/or productivity
  • Review daily reports and ensure completion of key tasks designed to keep an accurate inventory and ensure the team understands and works toward performance goals
  • Review records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock, provide information to the customer
  • Prepare work schedules for special projects and periodic inventories, and reacts quickly and effectively regarding unexpected labor needs
  • Work well cross-functionally with all departments in the warehouse and office (Customer Service, Purchasing, Finance) and collaborate with HQ as needed.
  • Work with Sales Management and Procurement to ensure a best-in-class customer experience 

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • 3+ years of direct inventory control experience, ideally in distribution operations
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with warehouse equipment
  • Experience with warehouse management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High school diploma or GED (general education diploma) equivalency
  • Experience implementing process improvements in an operational environment preferred
  • Experience in a changing/growing organization
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Solid analytical skills including systematic root cause analysis
