Job Description

We are in search of a Relief Driver/Warehouse Associate. The Relief Driver/Warehouse Associate is responsible for pulling orders, receiving products, putting away products, inventory control and always keeping quality customer service and safety in mind. Relief driver as needed.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Pull orders to be delivered by KSS and process orders shipping out via other carriers.  
  • Accurately read and understand customer orders. Ability to logically build pallets with multiple customer orders on one pallet.
  • Ability to read and understand BOL’s, manifests, packing slips and HazMat summaries.
  • Load KSS delivery trucks.
  • Follow all procedures and policies; consistently keep safety as a primary focus on all tasks.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiencies and cost savings; share with manager.
  • Pull and load customer orders from our showroom walk in trade. 
  • Assist with warehouse, warehouse equipment and building maintenance as needed/scheduled.
  • Assist with inventory control. Ensure you receive and ship product correctly and accurately.
  • Participate in bin location audits, inventory control, cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
  • Learn to assemble, test and load/unload equipment/machines.
  • Assist with stocking of product; rotation of product and assist with stocking showroom.
  • Review and sign receipt, understanding and adherence to the procedures in the Driver Handbook, and any revisions to follow.  This includes but not limited to:  Work with safety in mind each and every day, daily completion of log book, immediately reporting all incidents or accidents, reporting all driving infractions that occur on or off the job, pictures of deliveries, signatures on deliveries, return of product, lock trucks up nightly, keep the vehicle clean inside and out, responsible for equipment used to assist with delivers such as pallet jacks, two-wheel dollies, wheel chocks and other property on the truck.  Actively using Dispatch Track anywhere phone system and Samsara. 
  • Customer Service- At the customer locations, expectation is to professionally accommodate the customer which may include, but not limited to carrying heavy items up and downstairs, rotation of stock, returning items, filling orders, etc
  • Professionally delivery of orders to customers when acting as a relief driver. Ability to fill in as a relief driver on short notice. Learn delivery routes. Ability to be flexible and understanding to organizational/customer needs.
  • Adhere to all CDL laws; drive safely and courteously at all times. Work with safety in mind each and every day
  • The ability to be accurate as well as efficient.
  • Assist with snow removal and salting as needed. 
  • Attend, participate and arrive on time to meetings when scheduled. Be ready to work at your scheduled start time.
  • Miscellaneous assigned tasks and projects.
  • Embrace and promote the company’s Vision, Mission and Core Values. Keep company’s business-related issues confidential.
  • Complete all HR/OSHA safety training within timelines provided. 
  • Responsible for timely responses and utilization of the communication tools available, such as voice mail, e-mail, etc. as they apply.
  • Promote a positive attitude and work habits; promote a safe work environment and safe work habits; Work with other team members in a positive and pro-active manner.  
  • Additional duties or special projects as assigned.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Chauffeurs License, good driving record at all times.  Valid Medical Card. MHE Certification. 
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively and professionally before individual customers or employees of organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to handle stress. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear and smell.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance as needed.        Push and pull from 10-2500 pounds using appropriate material handling equipment, operate auto scrubbers, vacuums, wet/dry vacs, extractors, sweepers, floor machines, and other janitorial cleaning equipment.  May need to use a ramp, push, or pull automatic scrubbers or other equipment up or down the ramp.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • TECHNOLOGY: Proficient use of computers used for data entry, email retrieval, training, and various other computer related tasks. Actively using Dispatch Track anywhere phone system, and Samsara or similar, when driving.
  • TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Forklifts, safety belt available, dollies, ladders, platform truck, pallet jacks, pull chains and other equipment associated with truck driving, magna van driving and delivery needs.  Possible use of power tools such as drills and screwdrivers and other hand tools.  Possible handling of batteries, chargers, motors, drills, maintenance tools, etc.
