POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Accounts Receivable / Collections Team Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day A/R operations while providing mentorship and support to team members. This position plays a key role in the efficient collection of outstanding balances, customer account management, and process improvements. The Team Lead acts as a liaison between internal departments, customers, and the sales team, ensuring strong professional relationships and optimal cash flow management.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

•            Lead and support the A/R Collections team in daily operations and task prioritization.

•            Act as the first point of contact for escalations from internal and external stakeholders.

•            Apply customer payments and process credit card transactions.

•            Review A/R aging reports; proactively manage collections efforts via phone, email, and mail.

•            Perform account reconciliations and resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied cash.

•            Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account information.

•            Coordinate with Sales Representatives regarding account issues, payment status, and resolution plans.

•            Provide necessary documentation to internal and external stakeholders, including proof of delivery, invoices, and statements.

•            Partner with cross-functional departments (Sales, Customer Service, Tax, Credit) to resolve issues and support customer needs.

•            Monitor and release orders based on credit status and account review.

•            Prepare and present reports for internal leadership and sales teams.

•            Lead training and onboarding efforts for new A/R team members.

•            Crosstrain on all daily A/R processes to provide operational coverage and continuity.

•            Propose and support implementation of process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.

•            Support ad hoc projects and analysis as needed.

•            Ensure compliance with company policies.

•            Additional duties or special projects as assigned.

 

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

•            High School diploma required, associate’s degree or higher preferred.

•            Minimum 3+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, or Customer Service within a high-volume environment.

•            Previous experience in a lead or mentoring role strongly preferred.

•            Strong leadership and organizational skills.

•            Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

•            Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•            Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle high-profile customer interactions.

•            Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); ERP or accounting software experience preferred.

•            High attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

•            Comfortable working across multiple departments and business units.

•            Capable of handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

•            Ability to physically sit at a desk for long periods, operate a computer, and listen/speak clearly on the phone and in-person

•            Ability to pass job-related employment screenings.
