Job Description

We are in search of a Warehouse Lead to join our growing team. The Warehouse Lead is responsible for  order pulling, receiving and storing products, freight, and assisting with inventory control.  This position requires the candidate to lead a team, pre shift huddle, potentially open/close DC, and ability to print, sort, and prioritize workflow.  The hours for this position will vary based on location.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Pull orders to be delivered by KSS and process orders shipping out via other carriers.  
  • Accurately build pallets with multiple customer orders and ensure proper loading of delivery vehicles with even weight distribution.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks.
  • Assist with receiving and FedEx as needed. 
  • Assign orders, route truck runs and assist with palletizing orders for delivery. Ensure all delivery vehicles are loaded evenly with proper weights and level loaded.
  • Take personal ownership of all customer needs with speed and urgency.  
  • Follow all procedures and policies; consistently keep safety as a primary focus on all tasks.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiencies and cost savings; share with manager.
  • Pull and load customer orders from our showroom walk in trade. 
  • Assist with inventory control; Participate in bin location audits, inventory control, cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager to ensure proper training takes place with all team members, including completing assigned on-line training is completed on time. Training should also include pulling SDS sheets, marking orders with orange HazMat stickers, DOT requirements, teaching team members how to properly load trucks, secure loads, and how to safely load and secure all equipment.
  • Learn to assemble, test and load/unload equipment/machines.
  • Assist with stocking of product; rotation of product and assist with stocking showroom.
  • Assist with warehouse, warehouse equipment and building maintenance as needed/scheduled.
  • Assist with snow removal and salting as needed. 
  • Attend, participate and arrive on time to meetings when scheduled. Be ready to work at your scheduled start time.
  • First-line responsibility to ensure the branch is closed, locked, and alarmed at the end of the business day. 
  • Keep company’s business-related issues confidential.
  • Complete all HR/OSHA safety training within the timelines provided. 
  • Responsible for timely responses and utilization of the communication tools available, such as voice mail, e-mail, etc. as they apply.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the day-to-day oversight of the Warehouse and Delivery Driver Teams.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License. Forklift license. 
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 1-2 years of supervisor or leadership experience. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1- 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively and professionally before individual customers or employees of an organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to handle stress. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance as needed.  Push and pull from 10-400 pounds, and operate auto scrubbers, vacuums, wet/dry vacs, extractors, sweepers, floor machines, and other janitorial cleaning equipment.  (Approximate weight from 10 to 1000 pounds).  May need to occasionally use ramp and push or pull automatic scrubbers or other equipment up the ramp, with assistance by other personnel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • TECHNOLOGY: Proficient use of computers for data entry, email, training, Microsoft Office Suite, and various other computer-related tasks. Ability to understand, use and be proficient in our ERP system, Logistics software and driver video software and any other technology adopted in the future. 
  • TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Forklifts, safety belt available, dollies, ladders, platform truck, pallet jacks, pull chains and other equipment associated with truck driving, magna van driving and delivery needs.  Possible use of power tools such as drills and screwdrivers and other hand tools.  Possible handling of batteries, chargers, motors, drills, maintenance tools, etc.
