We are in search of an Operations Manager to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of Highland Park (formerly Detroit Chemical), KSS Westland, MI, and BBC Plymouth, MI (proudly part of BradyPLUS). Obtain optimum use of warehousing, delivery fleet, facilities, equipment, and personnel by performing the following duties personally or through associates. Support Sales and assist with Customer issue resolution. Keep safety a top priority and ensure that all team members complete on-line training on time.
Responsibilities Include:
- Directly supervise Highland Park Warehouse Manager, KSS Westland Warehouse Manager, and BBC Plymouth Warehouse Manager. Keep them abreast of the direction and vision of the Company, and how they contribute to the successes of the organization. Oversee hours worked. Continual communication with direct supervisor on issues, needs, etc.
- Works closely with Sales, Service, and Repair to ensure all customer issues or opportunities are resolved in a timely manner.
- Supervises, trains, provides guidance, assigns duties, reviews, and assists team members.
- Oversees inventory integrity and assists with inventory control issues or variances.
- Proficient in the Warehouse Management System and provides training on it.
- Develops and effects appropriate cost efficiencies in warehousing/operations, personnel, inventory management, transportation, and other areas under direct control.
- Maintains effective vendor relationships.
- Manage cross-functional projects and new account implementations as needed by management.
- Conducts financial report analysis and cost control related to DC operations.
- Accountable for coordinating with various internal departments (i.e., Sales, Customer Service, and Accounting) to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assists staff in completing daily duties in a timely manner as necessary.
- Resolve problems, completes audits, identifies trends, and reports important or otherwise relevant operations information and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures that comply with company and legal regulations.
- Oversee quality, safety, and certification programs.
- Ensure guidelines/requirements are followed for all Safety, DOT, HazMat and OSHA requirements.
- Ensure drivers are actively using Samsara and Logistics software daily, providing feedback when needed.
- Promote a safe work environment and safe work habits at all times.
- Responsible for opening and closing the branch. Assist with facilities management in regard to maintenance of both inside and outside of building needs.
- Keep BradyPLUS and affiliate business related issues confidential. Embrace and promote the Company Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Coordinate findings with purchasing and sales on non-usable, slow moving, or excess stock.
- Additional duties or special projects as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- BA/BS in Operations/Management or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years operations and warehousing experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and management experience.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The position requires strong leadership, flexibility, and team building skills to improve efficiency and results of the logistics / supply chain functions.
- Able to work various shifts to train or backup management when required with overtime as needed.
- Knowledge of freight contracts, financial analysis, and contract negotiation.
- Experience with pricing and operational requirements for small parcel, LTL, domicile fleet, truckload, and mail.
- Periodic local travel required.
- Ability to pass job-related employment screenings.
