Job Description

We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Sr. Cost Accountant who also brings expertise in Treasury Management and can provide leadership and support for Accounts Payable (AP) operations. This hybrid role will play a critical part in managing cost structures, driving accurate cash management, supporting payment operations, and ensuring smooth AP workflows. The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and capable of leading by example in a fast-paced finance environment.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

Cost Accounting:

  • Analyze production, labor, and overhead costs, providing actionable variance analysis and recommendations.
  • Maintain and update standard cost models and assist in pricing, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and support monthly reconciliation of inventory and COGS accounts.
  • Monitor inventory movements and ensure accurate cost allocation and valuation.
  • Prepare journal entries, cost reports, and financial data for monthly and year-end closings.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to costing and inventory.

 

Treasury Management:

  • Monitor daily cash positions, manage liquidity, and forecast short-term cash needs.
  • Maintain and reconcile Zero Balance Accounts (ZBAs) to ensure proper fund allocation across entities or accounts.
  • Process ACH and wire transfers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with approval protocols.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and posting necessary adjustments.

 

Accounts Payable (AP) Support:

  • Support daily AP operations, including invoice approvals, coding, and payment processing.
  • Oversee 3-way match processes (PO, receipt, invoice) and ensure accurate GL coding.
  • Prepare and approve payment runs (ACH, wires, checks), ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Support month-end AP close, including accruals and subledger reconciliations.
  • Guide and support AP team members, handling escalated issues and improving AP processes.
  • Additional duties or special projects as assigned.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting and accounts payable.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is highly preferred, as well as knowledge of setting up standard costs in an ERP system.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably a manufacturing ERP (for Syspro experience a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to physically sit at a desk for long periods, operate a computer, and listen/speak clearly on the phone and in-person
  • Ability to pass job-related employment screenings.
