Job Summary

Drive trucks or other vehicles (van) over established routes or within an established territory and deliver goods, such as food products, including take-out items, or pick up or deliver items. Properly secure goods to ensure that they are not damaged in transit. Assisting in the loading and unloading of goods, using hand trucks and electric lifts as required. Obtaining signatures from customers upon completion of each delivery to confirm receipt of goods.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Valid Class B commercial driver's license required
• 2+ years of driving 26 footers
• Clean driving record with no moving violations
• Ability to operate vehicle in a variety of weather and traffic conditions
• Experience operating warehouse equipment, such as electric lifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks a plus

Able to lift /push/pull up to 50 pounds

Knowledge

Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

Work Context

• Communication - Constant verbal communication with supervisor, coworkers, office staff and clients at facilities
• Role Relationships - heavy interaction with customers at facility, customer service department and logistics department, also with coworkers within the same work area.
• Work Setting – Warehouse environment, and also while driving is out on the road
• Environmental Conditions – depending on the weather, could be driving under the rail, on cold/hot temperatures

Job Hazards – any hazards that can be found on the road while driving

Body Positioning – sitting down driving, but also moving, pulling, pushing lifting the loads using a dolly/pallet jack when doing deliveries to client’s facilities

Work Attire - wear appropriate PPE for the job setting, steel toe boots, uniform.

Work Schedule: variable, usually starts as early as 3am to 5am this is variable depending on routes, driver works a 4x10 schedule, anything over that is consider overtime.

Primary Job Duties

• Listen to and resolve customers' complaints regarding products or services.
• Inform regular customers of new products or services and price changes.
• Drive trucks to deliver such items as food and janitorial supplies
• Record sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery record.
• Map delivery routes to ensure timely deliveries following routes and times schedule
• Pick-up loads, organize goods in the truck, and secure packages
• Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to tractor unit
• Transport pallet goods and packages from place of origin to assigned destination
• Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with clients
• Communicate with dispatch as needed
• Ask for feedback on provided services and resolve clients’ complaints
• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
• Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
• Track and report working hours
• Adhere to company rules and regulations
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
• Follow DOT regulations and safety standards
• Other duties as assigned
