Job Description

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the planning, routing, reporting, & dispatching of company drivers and company fleet. This role is also responsible for the analytics of routing efficiencies, asset utilization, cost and service. 


Responsibilities Include:

  • Cross-functional collaboration with other departments (e.g., purchasing, sales, customer service) to address any inventory-related issues.
  • Work with the team to manage how products are stored, ensuring that fast-moving items are easily accessible and slow-moving items are stored in less prime locations.
  • Schedule inbound shipments within the OpenDock scheduling program
  • Prepare receiving worksheets for inbound purchase orders
  • Partner with buyers and vendors to address overages, shortages, and damages from purchase orders received
  • Ensure the accurate and timely receiving of goods, check the condition of incoming shipments, and verify that all items match the purchase order.
  • Utilize and navigate the warehouse management system daily to complete daily tasks
  • Filing and record retention of supporting documents
  • Support the transportation team with processing checks and updating check logs via Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Power BI)
  • Process small parcel inbound shipments daily
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems
  • Experience with RF handheld Gun
  • Manage the return process for items sent back to the warehouse, ensuring they are logged properly and any restocking or disposal actions are carried out.
  • Ensure that the warehouse is running smoothly throughout the day by managing workload distribution and addressing bottlenecks or delays.
  • Participate in Monthly Safety Meetings
  • Handle any customer complaints related to warehouse operations, such as delayed shipments or damaged goods, and work to resolve them promptly.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with warehouse staff, other departments, and management.
  • Effective prioritization of tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Check-in inbound drivers
  • Identify items in stock from open purchase orders
  • Report account payable discrepancies and work with accounting and procurement to address and resolve

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • High School Diploma; Associate’s degree, recent college graduate or some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar function required.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of mainframe computer applications relating to record keeping and scheduling required.
  • Experience in Routing Software, Roadnet Routing Software preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and Outlook programs required.
  • Ability to read maps required.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work independently required.
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to physically sit at a desk for long periods, operate a computer, and listen/speak clearly on the phone and in-person.
