Description & Requirements
The Service Technician is responsible for proactively maintaining janitorial equipment, perform repairs, and conduct onsite installation and testing tasks while representing the company in a safe and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks.
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports.
- Document processes as needed.
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems.
- Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations / briefings.
- Interact with customers in a professional manner.
- Work safely and follow appropriate policies and government-mandated guidelines for safe handling and work processes.
- Coordinate and prioritize needs and tasks as they change.
- Meeting industry performance and quality standards.
- Cross-department engagement with internal support teams to promote customer service, good teamwork and help meet company goals.
- Repair all janitorial, floor and carpet care equipment sold by the company and where applicable other makes and models.
- Coordinate with Sales Consultants and Senior Service Center Manager for appointments.
- Calculate estimates on parts and labor when requested and notify customer.
- Always maintain and keep the vehicle clean, inside and out.
- Check oil battery, radiator, power steering and brake fluid.
- Label and repair all machines as required when brought into Service Center for repair or done on site. Properly fill out repair paperwork.
- Make on location service calls to larger equipment when not feasible to bring into Service Department and perform preventative maintenance when applicable.
- Keep work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Operate forklift as needed.
- Additional duties or special projects as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 3 years of experience and high school diploma.
- Specific Skills: mechanical ability, ability to read instructions, diagrams, and electrical schematics, knowledge of electronic circuitry, diagnostic background.
- Technology: proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AS400, ability to learn company ERP system.
- Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate machinery, stoop, bend or kneel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision due to reading related work documents, such as bills of lading, orders, schematics and documents.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 100lbs may be required (some industrial machine assistance available).
